Frequently Asked Questions
At Polaris Rehab & Performance we understand what it's like to be in pain and not be able to take part in your sport or hobbies. We understand how frustrating it is to go to a medical professional who does some hands on treatment that relieves your pain for a few days, weeks, or maybe months...but it always comes back. We know how disheartening it is to get a list of generic low level exercises as part of your rehab that will never prepare you for the demands of your life or hobbies.
We are committed to providing high level rehabilitation services that not only get you out of pain, but prepare your body and mind for the demands you place upon it. Whether you want to run a marathon, play football 5 times per week or go for long walks on the weekend, we will make sure that your body is prepared for it.
If you want to book a single appointment, then you can email us and request to do so. However, every new client should have a discovery call for the following reasons:
It allows you to make sure that we're the right fit for you, with no financial risk or obligation for you to complete your rehab with us.
It allows us to do part of the assessment on this call. This means that we can get all of the important talking part of the assessment done in the discovery call, so that we don't have to spend time doing it during your first appointment. This gives us more time during your first treatment session to actually start addressing the problem.
This is dependent on a whole host of factors such as the severity of the pain/injury, how long you've had it, your injury history, your goals etc.
Typically 6 sessions over a 12 week period is suitable for the average person to get great results, but this can vary. During the discovery call, we will let you know how many sessions we think you will need.
We always recommend based on how many sessions we think you need to get long lasting results. No more, no less.
At Polaris Rehab & Performance we have found that movement is the best intervention for getting rid of pain and back to performance. After all, if your current issue is with moving your body and you want to get back to doing that pain-free, it makes sense that the best way to do that would be to teach your body how to move in a way that isn't painful.
In the first session or two, depending on the severity of the injury, the movements may be quite gentle and focus on restoring control of movement and smooth range of motion. Later on as the rehab progresses, especially if you're an athlete, the sessions will become more challenging to reflect your sport/activity. If you're a sprinter, how can you say your rehab is complete if you haven't done any sprint work?
The best way to answer this question is by having a discovery call. You have nothing to lose and it will allow us to have a proper chat to determine whether we can be of help. As a general rule, if your issue is musculoskeletal (i.e. muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, nerves) then we can help.
